Mika Horibuchi utilizes trompe l’oeil as a rebuttal to illusory representation. Revisiting historical paintings, her grandmother's watercolors, and deceivingly painting unassuming objects, Horibuchi gives her viewer a cognitive rupture, their perception—and handle on ‘truth’—called into question.
