Alex Bradley Cohen

  • Alex Bradley Cohen’s paintings arrange atmospheric space such that the figures and their surroundings are held equal—and in doing so, create community and dialogue between often isolated planes. Lines and patterns, established primarily through planes of color, serve as partitions between happenings on the surface. Drawing scenes from Cohen’s neighborhood and relationships in Chicago, these formal tools do not separate narratives, but draw the individual into their collective sharing of the picture plane.
