Alice Tippit’s evocative paintings engage with symbolism—to the viewer’s eye, first reminiscent of images. Shortly after, the use of hard-edged shapes come into focus as the underlying archetypes derived from patriarchal structures of seeing. Obscure forms occupy space under the guise of objectivity, but are surreal and visceral.
