Angel Otero
-
Angel Otero’s practice engages memory and the reformulation of memory through material exploration. Otero intercepts artistic processes in critical junctures, redirecting their states of becoming. In taking ‘oil skins’ (halfway dried piece of oil paint on class), or tracing familial photographs, or repurposing and collaging pieces from previous work, Otero imbues his material with a vessel-like quality, carrying not only the memories of their previous physical states, but also acting as autobiographical repositories.
