Antonia Gurkovska’s material interventions reveal structural foundations, breaking the traditional picture-plane. Paintings are often arranged in multiples that rely on one another for totality, line traveling between pieces to underscore shared paradigms. In material-based works, the cuts, layering, and stacking reveal the levels of her objects; the result is a fallacy of any sense of singularity.
