Naomi Hawksley

  • Surreal and apparitional, Naomi Hawksley’s drawings call upon tropes of female depiction and image structures with a careful and evocative handling of graphite. Concerned with how women are seen and who does the seeing, the stroke is respectful and protective, encasing her figures in intimacy. The figures are caught between violence and peace, presence and absence, exposure and invisibility.
