In Dan Attoe’s compositions, the natural world is at once serene and commanding. Painted to appear smooth, clear, and refined, Attoe irrationally scales trees, mountains, and sunrises and sunsets to the human form. Attoe’s work orbits the contemporary fixation on the lived and digital world, where we fail to recognize and revel in the world around us — a world that sees our inner state and reverberates back.
