Kevin Ford takes overlooked images, pop culture and art allusions, and everyday visions and produces the effect of blur, pixilation, and zoom with airbrushing to disrupt the modern ‘look.’ In an age where everything is seen, Ford finds true looking in sublimation, recognition, confusion, and registration. The artist refers back to many painters who worked with the slippage of image-making – between actually seeing and depicting – by taking away clarity and restoring the immediacy of perception.
