Alessandra Norman b. 1990

  • Alessandra Norman is interested in observing how humans view the world — seeing as both a method of but also metaphor for comprehension, and perceiving the frameworks through which we see. Norman investigates the space between perception and perspective by playing with reality and its landscapes, straddling the conceptual frameworks of the artwork’s medium.  Her work is an exploration into defining “real-life” as our current reality, or “in real life” is increasingly becoming flattened through digital experiences.

  • Alessandra Norman (b. 1990, El Paso, Texas) is a Chicago-based artist whose work engages concepts of perspective and perception. Her upbringing along the US-Mexico border and alongside the advent of social media has informed her interest in examining the frameworks of perspective and corresponding methods we use to construct meaning.

Norman is a graduate alumna of SAIC (Printmedia 2019). Previous to her time in Chicago, Norman has lived in New York, Alabama, and Texas. Her previous arts-related experience includes time at the Roger Brown Study Collection, Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop (NYC), Newark Printshop (NJ), and co-founding Gesamtkunst Werkshop, a curatorial project she shares with her partner.
